Emerging Markets as Growth Opportunities
SD Shibulal, CEO of Infosys, one of India’s leading information technology companies, considers that emerging markets, including India, offer growth opportunities for international corporations. Despite Europe’s economic woes, Europe is a major market for foreign products: it provides 23% of Infosys Company’s revenue. On the other hand, “India has an emerging middle class of 300 million people, they want goods, they want services —he said— So many corporations, not only from Europe, from anywhere else in the world, are looking at these emerging markets as growth opportunities.” Emerging markets, on the other hand, are looking for products that are affordable, durable and relevant. Western companies need to innovate if they want to make the most of this opportunity.
