IDB Helps Venezuela to Sanitation Services
The Interamerican Development Bank has approved a US $100 million loan that will benefit eleven thousand low-income households improving or expanding access to sanitation and water services in 68 Venezuelan rural communities. The program has two components: The first consists on measures to strengthen the capacity of local and sanitation community organizations and service providers to effectively contract and supervise infrastructure works and manage services sustainability. The second will finance technical studies, project design, construction, expansion and rehabilitation of water and sanitation in the aforementioned communities. The IBD loan has an amortization period of 25 years with a 4 year grace period and an interest rate based on LIBOR.
